Sometimes struggling for a “3″ rather than take a “5″ can be the difference between winning and losing - Martin Lampkin shows how in these old pics.

Some events still happening - especially in Europe - Good shot here of Carlos winning the senior class in Spain

Answer to the Monday quiz - Alan (Syd) Lampkin on the section called Edramucky - John Kitchener got it right - maybe because he rode the Scottish a number of times when they still used that section.

This pic just popped up on FB - it shows Sammy saying goodbye after his holiday a few years ago - as everybody now knows, he came back and is now a full time promoter  for Beta Canada, - we are glad that we were able to help him along the way.

So just like our TV Weather guy - we have nothing new to report except more smoke in the Valley - I’m sure everybody is getting pretty fed up by now of all the heat and the fires.

We spend most of our time watching the box - the Olympics are interesting, although I shake my head at why some of these events are even in it.  - I took in some of the swimming and Rugby over the weekend - Canada finally got on the board by beating Japan, and the Canadian gals have been awesome in the pool.

I see Trystan Hart finished 7th in the Romaniacs Prologue - great achievement in some very fast company.

We were in touch with our Organizers from Scotch Creek and Revvy, over the weekend - Looking ahead, we are hoping to hold the Outlaw Trial in Revvy on the Sept 10/11 weekend and the Brown Memorial at Scotch Creek on the Oct Thanksgiving weekend. - watch this spot for further updates. ( Hopefully both the Forrest Fire and Pandemic situation will have improved by then)

Monday, July 26th, 2021

The start of another “Hot” week in the Valley - Like most others, we are finding this summer a “Season from Hell” - what with the Pandemic and now the Heat wave and Forest Fires all around.

The fact that we don’t have a lot of bikes in stock right now, might perhaps be a good thing, in case we need to pack up quickly. Although the late delivery of the TRS models was very frustrating.
We have been in touch with some of our friends who live in what are extremely   dangerous locations if a Fire should suddenly break out - Julie from Celista, informs us that they have had a couple of small fires start up on Crowfoot Mountain, but these were quickly jumped on by Martin and his crew. - Still very scary for them, and  for everybody in the Shuswap. - I know Ross and Judy have their evacuation plans in place, regarding their horses etc just in case.

We hope that everybody stays safe in these troubling times, we look forward to the day when we can see you all again, and get out riding in the woods.

We are of course open for business, as long as people phone ahead, and are still shipping out parts and accessories across the Country. However, we are keeping our ordering to a minimum, just in case we suddenly have to throw everything we can, in the van, to make a quick exit.

Nobody got the correct answer to yesterday’s quiz - The Gilera rider in the picture is Reg Armstrong - you can see the Irish Clover leaf emblem on his helmet .

I was lucky enough to see these great bikes a few times - perhaps the most memorable, was Bob McIntire doing the first 100mph lap in the Island in 1957. - I also saw Geoff Duke and John Hartle  on them at Oulton Park.

Stay safe people and stay out of the woods.

PETROL motorcycles will no longer be allowed in showrooms from 2035 after the UK government confirmed its new action plan this week.

According to the Department for Transport’s decarbonisation plan, a 220-page document released on Wednesday, all new L-category vehicles must be ‘fully zero emissions at the tailpipe’ in just over a decades’ time.

The news comes less than nine months on from the government’s announcement that the sale of all new petrol and diesel vans will end come 2030, whether we’re ready for it or not.

And while many pundits, action groups and organisations were quick to claim there was no mention of bikes, it’ll be just five years later that the same fate hits two-wheelers.

Not only will racers need to rethink their transporters from 2030 with the van ban on its way, but by 2040 the axe is set to come down on HGVs as well, as part of the final stage of phasing out ALL non-zero emissions vehicles that same year.

“While cars and vans outnumber motorcycles on UK roads, motorcycles are an important and sizeable vehicle population, with 1.4 million licensed in 2020 and we do not want to see them remaining fossil fuelled as the rest of the vehicle fleet cleans up,” the plan said.

“The opportunities for zero emission light powered vehicles (ZELPV) are enormous. We will build on our existing support in this segment, such as with the plug-in motorcycle grant, to benefit urban logistics and wider mobility and look to grow a new UK industrial supply chain.

“We will use Zemo’s strategic partnership [formerly known as the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership] with the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) to stimulate and coordinate activity in this area and publish options to develop this at national and local level this year.

“Zero emission motorcycles and other powered two wheelers are an efficient and clean form of mobility that can reduce congestion, improve urban air quality and reduce noise – we will take forward measures to remove these emissions…ensuring we support the development of new industrial opportunities for the UK.”

In 2019, motorcycles and mopeds made up just 0.4 per cent of all domestic UK greenhouse gas emissions. Cars and taxis were responsible for 55.4 per cent while heavy goods and light duty vehicles made up 31.6 per cent.

The plan is among a number of new regulations expected to be set out in the run up to November’s United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) in Glasgow.

“At this meeting, potentially one of the most important events in recent history, almost every country in the world will be represented”, DfT officials added.

“They will decide whether to deliver, and whether humanity takes what many believe to be its last best chance to get runaway climate change under control. As the president and host of the conference, the UK’s own intentions and commitments will significantly affect the chances of an ambitious global deal.”

While the government continues to push its green agenda, the plan also states intentions to phase out the the nearly £600 million available in grants for plug-in car, van, taxi, and motorcycles within the next two years.

Saturday we had a very nice day visiting our daughter who has a trailer up in the Shuswap  - I gave her this old pic of her riding her TY 175, when she was we figured out, 14 years old. - Helen is looking good at age 56, but has not ridden a bike since those early days in Alberta. - The frame is one that Steve Richardson gave me with a pic he took of myself many years ago, and is made from 1930’s wood found on Gambier Island BC. ( pretty special)
No description available.

As said, we had a very nice day kicking back  at the Cottonwood Camp ground - met a lot of new friends and although Momma Bear and myself did not go in the water - we had our chairs close to the edge with our feet in. - I made a quick trip early in the am - to drop off some parts for Ross which his buddy needed, but nobody was around so I left them by the door. - Tons of people and traffic up in the area, with lots of red plates, as people try to get out and enjoy the hot weather. - Not too much smoke in the area,  but found lots of stuff blown around at our place when we got home to Vernon late Saturday night, so there must have been a wind storm blow through the Valley.
=====================================================>

We often post pics taken by our buddy Heath Brindley from the UK. - He just posted this one of his restored Beta TR34, complete with one of our Outlaw stickers.

Well ! I have sold the #99 Gold TRS to Jamie McGregor  of Brantford - he is a friend of the Gretsky Family and has been after this bike for a while & I finally relented to let it go.
