This is pic of Toni Bou at a US World Round a few years ago - before they decided to make these events more like a Circus. - This looks like a great section possible for more than just the top three riders. ( Looks like Donner)

Then we have this shot from the Romaniacs Bike Carrying Contest.

Still with the Romaniacs - Pol Tarres ( Jordi’s nephew) finished  in 18th spot overall ,on the Yamaha 700 Tenere, an incredible performance.

While I have been enjoying some of the Olympics on TV - it occurred to me today while watching the Golf, that as all these guys are Pro Golfers and used to making a zillion dollars every weekend - why are they allowed to play in this event,  I thought it was all about  amateur athletes competing ?  and really - can you really say that some of these so called “Sports” should be in the Olympic Games?  - Obviously a lot of people might think differently, but that’s my opinion. ( The Ladies have been doing Canada proud - winning all the medals so far)
=========================================>

The news on the 2022 Beta Evo is  a bit disappointing with no big changes ( promised for years) -  however there is some good news - we will have a Factory 200 for next year !! this should be a brilliant bike, so if you are in the market let us know quickly as supply will be limited.

This is a shot I took of Steve Colley (Beta) at the 1992 Scottish -( Pentax 35mm)  the Section took a lot of fives, but Colley flew up it. -

And for all the Tourists thinking of visiting the OK Valley this long weekend - this is what you have to look forward to >>>

The pic taken overlooking our backyard - normally we can see Swan Lake which is only about a block away.  - The smell of smoke is awful and we are also getting ash blowing around, even though the fires are all a long way off ( at this point)

Friday July 30th 2021

Friday, July 30th, 2021

So here we are, heading into the August long weekend, normally an exciting time for attending a Trials event - but this year, just like last 2020, will be another, stay at home, watching the box scenario.
All very frustrating of course, but just because we can’t ride, doesn’t mean that we can’t spend time servicing our bike(s) - while some are busy planning for the Fall events - imagine what it would be like to get out riding in the rain!!!!  ( Guess what - WE have Wulf rain gear in stock - !!!!)
Just a “Heads up” for our  possible Trials events in September and October - the cost for entering these, will be up a bit, as our organizers  now have to purchase Insurance coverage. However, this is a small price to pay, when you consider how cheap it is to compete in Trials, compared to ANY other sport.

When we joined the WEC in 2009 and formed the Trials division for them, we were able to offer our Organizers free Insurance Coverage, but now the WEC is no more - we are unable to do this. ( It was great while it lasted)

The news that Triumph are due to release new MX and Enduro models, and have hired Ricky Carmichael has got the Off Road world buzzing - without a doubt the brand has a ton of fans around the World, check out this old pic from when the British Twins were super popular in the States.

The next few years will prove to be interesting as regards  which brands survive - =====================================>

Interesting results with Trystan Hart still right up there with the top lads.

First pics of the 2022 Beta Evo have been posted on FB - along with the tech features - looks like the Same again” approach, with “All new Graphics”  Not that there is anything wrong with the Evo - it could use a new rear fender, and lose a bit of weight, but the fact is that it’s the Enduro market that gets the sales numbers, and so that is where most of the development  goes.

Weather forecast - Hot and Smokey!!
Note! We have choppers flying around all the time  - we can’t even see Swan lake which is only about a block away - I’ve noticed that the grass is now very long on our narrow Country road, which is well overused by loads of traffic, including big trucks who want to pass the weigh scale on the main hiway. - All it would take is a spark, and we would all be in deep trouble.

I think you could caption this pic “Triple-Trouble” - Steve McQueen taking his co stars James Garner and James Cobern for a ride in one of the sidecar outfits used in the movie “The Great Escape”
As most people know McQueen was a very accomplished racer - both on bikes and in cars- he was a member of the American ISDT Team on a Triumph many years ago, but failed to finish after  he damaged his bike in  a crashMay be an image of 3 people, people standing, motorcycle and outdoors

A couple of great riders from yesteryear  still riding - this pic was taken in 2011 at the Manx two day - it shows Mick Wilkinson giving Arthur Browning some advice - or maybe arranging to have a pint after the end of the day!! - I saw Arthur at the 1983 ISDE in Wales he was riding a Yamaha TT600 -  he excelled  at  everything, Trials, ISDE - MX - and even Speedway.

Now here is a rare pic - Mike Hailwood on one of his first race bikes - not sure what it was, but obviously Mike was thinking he better keep a finger on the clutch, as most high compression two stroke racers back then, had a nasty habit of “Squeaking”  -  more than one road racer was killed riding them in those early years, including top guy Bill Ivy - testing a Suzuki in Japan.

Yesterday was a day to do some early morning running around doing deliveries - mailing off parts etc - then back home out of the smoke to watch more of the Olympics-  the swimming has been pretty awesome with Canada doing well with the gals picking up medals. - Some other events are of no interest to me.

There was also a good clip from 25 years ago showing Donovan Baily taking the Gold in the sprint also a nice interview with him.

So just like our TV Weather guy - we have nothing new to report except more smoke in the Valley - I’m sure everybody is getting pretty fed up by now of all the heat and the fires.

We spend most of our time watching the box - the Olympics are interesting, although I shake my head at why some of these events are even in it.  - I took in some of the swimming and Rugby over the weekend - Canada finally got on the board by beating Japan, and the Canadian gals have been awesome in the pool.

I see Trystan Hart finished 7th in the Romaniacs Prologue - great achievement in some very fast company.

( Hopefully both the Forrest Fire and Pandemic situation will have improved by then)

Monday July 26th 2021

Monday, July 26th, 2021

The start of another “Hot” week in the Valley - Like most others, we are finding this summer a “Season from Hell” - what with the Pandemic and now the Heat wave and Forest Fires all around.

The fact that we don’t have a lot of bikes in stock right now, might perhaps be a good thing, in case we need to pack up quickly. Although the late delivery of the TRS models was very frustrating.
We have been in touch with some of our friends who live in what are extremely   dangerous locations if a Fire should suddenly break out - Julie from Celista, informs us that they have had a couple of small fires start up on Crowfoot Mountain, but these were quickly jumped on by Martin and his crew. - Still very scary for them, and  for everybody in the Shuswap. - I know Ross and Judy have their evacuation plans in place, regarding their horses etc just in case.

We hope that everybody stays safe in these troubling times, we look forward to the day when we can see you all again, and get out riding in the woods.

We are of course open for business, as long as people phone ahead, and are still shipping out parts and accessories across the Country. However, we are keeping our ordering to a minimum, just in case we suddenly have to throw everything we can, in the van, to make a quick exit.

Check this out >>>>>

PETROL motorcycles will no longer be allowed in showrooms from 2035 after the UK government confirmed its new action plan this week.

According to the Department for Transport’s decarbonisation plan, a 220-page document released on Wednesday, all new L-category vehicles must be ‘fully zero emissions at the tailpipe’ in just over a decades’ time.

The news comes less than nine months on from the government’s announcement that the sale of all new petrol and diesel vans will end come 2030, whether we’re ready for it or not.

And while many pundits, action groups and organisations were quick to claim there was no mention of bikes, it’ll be just five years later that the same fate hits two-wheelers.

Not only will racers need to rethink their transporters from 2030 with the van ban on its way, but by 2040 the axe is set to come down on HGVs as well, as part of the final stage of phasing out ALL non-zero emissions vehicles that same year.

“While cars and vans outnumber motorcycles on UK roads, motorcycles are an important and sizeable vehicle population, with 1.4 million licensed in 2020 and we do not want to see them remaining fossil fuelled as the rest of the vehicle fleet cleans up,” the plan said.

“The opportunities for zero emission light powered vehicles (ZELPV) are enormous. We will build on our existing support in this segment, such as with the plug-in motorcycle grant, to benefit urban logistics and wider mobility and look to grow a new UK industrial supply chain.

“We will use Zemo’s strategic partnership [formerly known as the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership] with the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) to stimulate and coordinate activity in this area and publish options to develop this at national and local level this year.

“Zero emission motorcycles and other powered two wheelers are an efficient and clean form of mobility that can reduce congestion, improve urban air quality and reduce noise – we will take forward measures to remove these emissions…ensuring we support the development of new industrial opportunities for the UK.”

In 2019, motorcycles and mopeds made up just 0.4 per cent of all domestic UK greenhouse gas emissions. Cars and taxis were responsible for 55.4 per cent while heavy goods and light duty vehicles made up 31.6 per cent.

The plan is among a number of new regulations expected to be set out in the run up to November’s United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) in Glasgow.

“At this meeting, potentially one of the most important events in recent history, almost every country in the world will be represented”, DfT officials added.

“They will decide whether to deliver, and whether humanity takes what many believe to be its last best chance to get runaway climate change under control. As the president and host of the conference, the UK’s own intentions and commitments will significantly affect the chances of an ambitious global deal.”

While the government continues to push its green agenda, the plan also states intentions to phase out the the nearly £600 million available in grants for plug-in car, van, taxi, and motorcycles within the next two years.
