Saturday February 10th 2018

So we have the first long weekend of 2018  - It’s “Family” day on Monday - Will we get a chance to ride in the Valley ?  Not likely with cold temperatures and still a heap of snow.

A reminder that the Hiways will be brutal for traveling for the next few days, and the Avalanche danger extreme in the Mountains, so do take care.
Next week is “Valentine’s Day”  - Better not forget the sweetheart in your life.  - Reason I know that, is my local flower shop that supply me with long empty flower boxes to ship out the Beta rear fenders, have a big shipment coming in on Sunday !!!

Here is a neat shot of Jordie and Brett Clark last week in Jordi’s Trophy room - back in the day, Brett acted as Jordi’s minder at a US World Round - the start of a very good relationship that now sees Brett & Bob Clark, Importing the TRS Trials bikes.  ( Jordie is holding the Premier Trophy from that event)

Graham Jarvis will go for his sixth Hell’s Gate title this weekend in Italy.

Hard Enduro legend Jarvis has made a home of the rocky Tuscan hillside after taking his first win in 2011. The Husqvarna ace went on a winning-run until in 2015 when Jonny Walker stole the show.

The following year Wade Young pipped Jarvis and it looked like the kids were taking over the show until Jarvis came back in 2017 for his fifth win.

Hell’s Gate has a host of big names listed as former winners: Taddy Blazusiak, Dougie Lampkin and David Knight is a three-time winner.

Recent Beta Racing signing, Travis Teasedale, starts with the number two plate after finishing second in 2017. Since switching to Beta in 2018 the South African has clocked up fourth at Ales Trem and second behind Jarvis at the Tough One in the UK.

Traditionally running with a strong Italian contingent, for obvious reason, Hell’s Gate is an established part of the early season hard enduro events tour in Europe – along with Ales Trem in France, The Tough One in the UK and at least in part the Bassella Race in Spain.

Last night we watched the Olympic opening ceremonies from Korea - what a spectacle - the money and planning they put into this must have been incredible, but they pulled it off.

Barcia Goes Full-Time

And finally - It seems that both the VMC and the CPTA Trials are on next weekend February 18th - sorry for the mix up. Of course it’s always best to check before you set out on a long road trip.
