Sunday April 15th 2018

So a change of plans for Sunday - will see Shane picking me up around 4 am, for the trip to Ioco - at least this way we will both have company. - Rain is in the forecast !!!  But we are looking forward to chatting to old friends.
Friday night, we had a call from Steve Richardson - who has now returned from his Mexican vacation, but it sounds as though his health issues will keep him off the bike a bit.

Anybody in the market for a nice used Beta Evo 300?  Turk has his for sale on the Island - you can contact me for pics and info:

We have also listed an XR 200 on our for sale page - these were always a popular little bike and the price is very reasonable.

Here is a nice sunny pic of Jordi and his lads at the Spanish Championship - thumbs up so looks like a winner.

There is a saying that with Trials, things tend to run in the family - and this certainly appears to be true with both the Hemingway/s from Yorkshire  - here are the two youngest finishing 1st & 2nd in Spain riding the Junior class.

As posted a couple of days ago, the FIM had a meeting to discuss the new rule changes they imposed for 2017, and stated that everybody was in agreement? - One change we saw last year in World Outdoor, was a qualifying section, in which speed over the obstacles, would decide starting position.

I’m not sure what the consensus is with the riders, but it has just been reported that two of the three Honda Team riders, fell at the first round today, with Fujinami injured and unable to ride tomorrow - Amazingly Toni Bou posted the quickest time. - We can only hope that nobody else gets hurt competing in this new format.

Trial: the world in danger?

A little more than a month from the beginning of the world, it heats behind the scenes according to our Spanish colleagues (usually well informed!) From Indeed, the gap would be widening between the interests of the promoter Sport7 and his ally the FIM and the manufacturers of trial machines as a whole, led by Albert Casanovas (GasGas) who replaced Donato Miglio recently in the role of representative Of the industry. The reasons ? A divergence of views on how to handle the world championship. Who should, according to the manufacturers, be primarily a marketing tool to develop and promote the sport “trial” through the showcase that offers the spectacle of these magicians, and ultimately sell motorcycles, main goal. When, precisely, Sport7 is accused of seeing in the championship only a cash machine, a show to sell tickets, spit sponsors to the bassinet without any real desire to develop the trial. Who’s wrong, who’s right, hard to say from here. Nevertheless, the brands are determined to show their teeth this time, and do not hesitate to brandish the ultimate threat of boycott of the first test, which will take place in Spain, the country that reigns economically and sportingly on the market. disciplined. In short, stay tuned if you are interested in sport, it will be clearer in the coming weeks!
