This is the Expert Podium at the WTC National (West) in Revelstoke at the weekend - just two riders, in what could be called a Monster Monsoon Trial. - The rain never let up on Saturday, causing Clerk of the Course Florian Schott to make the decision to drastically, cut back on the planned long loop, revamping things late into the evening. - Flo- Shane and Terry were out, until nearly dark -  helping to try salvage the Trial, all coming in looking like drowned rats, very cold and very disappointed at the way things  the cruel weather had , destroyed weeks of hard work. - I’m pleased to say that all understand that sometimes, the weather controls, how things turn out,  with the degree of difficulty, and the number of riders that show up on any given day. -
All we could do was  try to bolster their spirits, by telling tales of similar things that have occurred in the past - in my case the first CMA National we put on the Alberta in 1971 ( two feet of snow on the ground the morning of the Trial) and the first Canadian FIM World Championship near Calgary, in 1975, when Saturday heavy rain made for drastic changes to the long 69 mile loop.

Not that these are the only events that have been effected by Mother Nature, but unfortunately it it did make for a rather small turn-out in Revvy.   We do thank everybody who did show up - you all now have points for the National Series, which ends at Malakwa in September.
Surprisingly, the Sunday morning remained fairly dry, in fact you could say almost ideal, until mid-afternoon. Of course many of the sections had to be changed, due to the conditions, but it was very gratifying to see the groups of riders all enjoying the Trial, for many, it was their first event.

We even had one rider from Yellowknife and he had a great time - others came from Alberta and other parts of BC .

We took a lot of photographs and video & will try to post more of this - ( I downloaded quite a lot on FB last night)

To sum up, while things did not go as planned and I can think of likely 20-30 riders, who were not in Revvy, for whatever reason ( July 1st is classed as a family day for many) To the riders who braved the atrocious weekend weather, I thank you for making the effort.

To Florian and his team - You did a fantastic job in unbelievable conditions - Hats off to you all.
We could also not run these events without the superb Team who look after the scoring and results - all very Professional - So a big thanks to Julie and Judy.
The Revvy Riders Club, far from being disappointed with their first attempt at hosting a National Trial without any assistance, are super gung- ho, to incorporate a complete Trials loop on their Forestry approved area, complete with  marked out sections using colored markers and maps available for future visitors. - ( Revvy is a destination spot for lots of Europeans)

Results - Riders did either 2 or 3 loops of 8 sections over an approx 10 km course.
