Red Deer has a deep rooted history in Flat Track racing that goes back to the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with local participants like Darrel MacRae, Doug McKenzie, John Peacock, Rick Botting, John McRae, Mitch Rowland and of course Rex Turple. At that time racing was downtown at Red Deer’s original Exhibition Grounds. Red Deer residents were last treated to Flat Track Motorcycle racing in 1980.
Now, with the enthusiastic support of Westerner Park, excitement is building with Grass Roots racing returning to Central Alberta & Red Deer’s own Westerner Park 5/8 mile race track for handlebar to handlebar, fast paced racing, that is sure to thrill the entire family.
Come see racers as young as 4 to those as experienced as 70+ race vintage to modern motorcycles, ATV’s, ATC’s & Coleman mini bikes. The Westerner 5/8 mile track is the big show and there will be 1/10 mile Short Track featured also.
Come cheer on Red Deer’s Darrel MacRae, the “1978 Canadian Motorcycle Association’s Top Rider of the Year” will be there aggressively battling it out with the young champions of the future.
