Tough day at the office today. Was riding half decent early then was my turn for some bad luck. Tire off the rIm. Tom,Filipe, Ollie all helped me get it back on. Then rushing to catch up and not walking the sections properly. Then the tire came off again. Thanks to my new best friend Tony for helping me with it but we could not get it back on. Thanks to Ross Galloway for his mouse and another lad for some C02. Anyway had to tie the f-ing tire to the rim and punch the last group. But got it home. New tire on and ready for tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some interesting comments on 2026 Scottish Six Day observation rules have been posted on face book as they are shown via video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for your observation. I totally agree with proper no-stop observing and easier sections after watching the 2026 videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I won the 1982 SSDT on 105 marks, which remains the highest winning event score on record for a top level trials rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back then, all the best in the world entered the event and it was about an additional 200 miles longer over the week. There were no x-trial style waterfalls, and very strict no-stop observing applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember difficult sections, but nothing that was dangerous with ropes to catch participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, many bike parts were marked and controlled leaving few parts changeable. It seems a lot of those rules have changed since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are still many top world riders missing from the event, so what is the point of making it painful, extreme and dangerous sections for the majority – just to please a few riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems the traditional SSDT is sadly drifting towards TrialGP circus rules with \u201cplease the spectator\u201d approach rather than the majority of riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have a lot of respect for the observers who are out all day or week in the cold without clear guidelines on how to observe sections at an event that started in 1909..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having spectated at the Scottish quite a few times, dating back to 1972- I can understand the difficulty faced by the organizers, but with the majority of the entry, being just ordinary club riders, I can’t see things continuing in this format. – sadly it will only likely change, when the entry level falls drastically, as it did when they tried to go with the “Stop Allowed” a few years ago . <\/p>\n\n\n\n
