The post we put up regarding the Trials scene and how it pertains to things in Canada, got quite a few responses, – all from people sharing the same view, and only time will tell how things work out in the future. As mentioned, I’m just an old guy who has seen huge changes in both the bikes, and the events being promoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did check out some of the video from the UK World round in Anglesey held this past weekend, but to be honest – the type of sections that I saw, did not impress me, and I quickly clicked over to other topics. ( I know it’s hard to believe – so if this is me a dyed in the wool Trials enthusiast – what do other people think of this?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This does not mean that I don’t really appreciate the huge skills involved – but I’m afraid for me, this is not the type of Trials event that I like. – And to be candid, does not sell Trials bikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glad to hear that they got some rain out West which was good for riders wanting to get out at Ioco – also really glad to hear they got that fire under control over by Fintry ( Just down the road from Roy’s place -where we like to ride)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing we have noticed is that even though they built a very long Fire break in that area when they had the last big fire which had Roy out of his home for about two months – there has been no attempt to keep this clear of long grass and brush??<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge thanks to the guys who fly these skimmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check out this pic of a 1952 BSA Bantam – a bike that an old school buddy showed to me back in 1953 and the one that sparked my lifelong interest in Motorcycles – The one he had was set up more for competition and to the eyes of a young 15 year old was far more appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have heard from old friend Jack Chant , that the 100 Year Celebration held this past weekend for the Calgary Motorcycle Club, went really well, lots of old timers there, so no doubt the stories would have been really interesting – I would have liked to be a “Fly on the Wall” – Check out this old pic from that very first Calgary Trial I rode back in 1971 at Blackfoot Park.. – I won what they called “The Best Opposite award” – I asked what the hell is that? These days the club appears to be just Street riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, we don’t have any events scheduled for this hot stretch – the next on our calendar is Ymir on the September long weekend. This location is fantastic and I can’t speak highly enough of both the event and area for camping and enjoying the Creekside . – Pete and Jay are hosting this and if past events are anything to go by – it will be one to remember.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
