Although Babs and myself arrived in Canada in 1965 – I did not get interested in the Motorcycle scene until much later – I had been told that the only competitions held were hill climbs and the bikes had chains on the back tires!! I took up fishing instead. – That was until one day I took a look in Walt Healy’s shop on 10th street in Calgary – it was close to where we lived at that time, and I was quite surprised to see some bikes that looked more “European” – yes they were the first DT Yamahas, and as they say the rest is history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This old pic just popped up on FB – shows Sean Bird and Sam King at a time they both rode Beta – Sean got help from Mountain MC, while Sammy was on the Outlaw bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we saw this out of the office window – now we check to see if there is any smoke from new fires!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately we are hearing about more Forest fires due to lightning – one of concern near Armstrong\/Silver Creek area – we watched the skimmers picking up water from Swan Lake – pretty amazing – four coming in line astern then taking off again -.all from our office window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pic of the fire was taken from Salmon River road, which we always take when driving to the Shuswap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
