Answer to the Saturday quiz – Sammy Miller – pic taken in the Isle of Man TT Lightweight race he is riding a Mondial with a full fairing – these were banned later that year as side winds caused a few fatalities. – ( We were at the TT that week – brilliant times) ( Sorry we don’t know who to credit for the photo)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only Harlow and Pete Varey got this right – but Brett also at his second guess<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As many will have seen on FB – Sammy turned 90 years old on November 11th – a true motorcycle legend. – Happy to report that I was in the same event as him, back in the 50’s – The Lomax National Trial – He won and I struggled. – Later we Imported quite a lot of his special Trials parts. – Unfortunately we never did meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in 1972 we held a special Trial in his honor in Alberta – and we printed up a program ( We did a lot back then) which we still have and have posted part of here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also made a very special plaque which I did, as I was still doing Photo Engraving at that time. It was supposed to be an Annual award, but whoever won it that first year did not return it !!! ( This is likely the most unique Trophy in the World – so whoever has it !! it would be nice to get it back)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISDE is now over in Argentina – The Yanks won the Trophy class with a dominant performance by the Team – The Brits came 3rd which considering they did not have their top World Class Beta riders, was really good. – As is always the case – Consistency is the winner at these events – even fast guys crash and bikes break. – Local lad Ian McKill finished well as the Canadian Team struggled after losing their top fast guy. – Lots to see about this on the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
