Answer to the last quiz Mike Hailwood Greeves, riding the Scottish Six Day Trial – ( don’t think he finished) – only one correct answer from Pete Varey. But David Brooks also got that it was Hailwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– As most enthusiasts know Hailwood was a brilliant road racer, and winner of more than one TT race in the Island – I saw him on the Norton in 1961 when he won three TT races and only an engine problem with the AJS stopped him winning four. -I also saw Mike in what might have been his first road race at Aintree near Liverpool ( I was there with a buddy who was racing,) I have the book “Hailwood” which is a really good account of how he worked hard to become the best, in spite of many bad mouthing him as being spoilt by his rich Father – ( All totally untrue)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike and his young daughter were tragically killed in a car crash involving a drunk driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I saw this pic on Social Media of a bike similar to one we built and raced in 1978 – a YZ 125 fitted with an IT 175 engine – As usual this was all done at Walt’s shop and was an effort to have the better suspension of the YZ mated to the torque of the aircooled IT – we also fitted ours with the IT 175 gas tank as it was to be used in Cross Country races. – The bike worked really well but we blew the engine at the Moose Mountain race and then got lost in the Kamloops two day qualifier, finishing on bronze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a NATC Trials round in Florida this weekend and TRS USA are there with a nice set up –<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canadian Trevor Howarth – is also there to compete in the Senior class on his 2015 Beta 4T – We wish him luck as he won his class in the last round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
