Our last quiz was quite easy – as Agostini had his nick-name on his leathers!!! – Obviously a lot of our regulars got this!! However Roger Boothroyd, even supplied some history on the multi-time World Road Race Champion. – Ago was one of four boys living in Italy, and it took a lot of convincing to get his Father to let him race. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still on the quiz theme – we did find out that the pic we posted of Mike Hailwood, which according to the caption in his book – said was taken at the Scottish Six Day Trial, was not so – John Kitchener brought this to our attention. – Therefore I contacted John Moffat in Scotland the Trials Guru and Trials history buff, who agreed that the pic had been mis-captioned. – It seems Mike did ride the Scottish at an early age on a Triumph cub, arranged by his Father. – -but we have no idea how he did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quiz today. – Who is this other World Champion Road Racer – and TT winner who started his career as a Trials rider working for the Norton Factory?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I always thought the BSA Gold Star in “Clubman’s” trim was one very good looking machine – I never did either own or ride one, but they were very popular in the 1950’s for getting started in road racing. – Unfortunately they did have an oil pump problem, and it was this that caused one of our local club riders to crash in the Clubman’s TT in the Isle of Man, he did not survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
