Another quiet day at the ranch on Saturday – the skiff of snow melted but they say more on the way. – At least there is lots up on the mountains for the snowmobilers, so we will need to order more Opti snowmobile oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did go out to the shop for a while – but then it was couch potato time, watched some of the Hockey, but also some video of the Dakar – I see there is one bike rider from Alberta giving it a go – scraped together the huge amount of dollars needed, so we wish him luck ( Nobody we know)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Answer to the last quiz – Stan Cordingly, Arthur Lampkin, Alan Lampkin, Tom Ellis, John Draper, and Jeff Smith – The pic was taken at a Scottish Pre 65 re-union. – Peter from Oz got close getting 5 of the 6. – Pete also sent us this pic, but no info on who these folks are, or where it was taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He does mention that The Australian TRS Importer has just had a big load of 2025 bikes arrive. !! So obviously the market must be still holding up “Down under”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good to see Colin promoting Trials in Alberta – things have been a bit slow in that region for some time. – We have great memories of Alberta Trials, which was where I began my riding career in Canada, and also put on the very first FIM world Trial in 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last night I watched The Great Escape movie on one of the TV channels – we have seen it a few times, but a great show and very well acted, with Steve McQueen and a host of other stars. – the highlight for Motorcycle enthusiasts was the jumping the barb wire fence scene, done by stunt double Bud Ekins, a personal friend of McQueen. – Tim Gibbes from OZ also played the part of the German on the thinly disguised Triumph that McQueen fells on the road. – It was rumored that McQueen wanted to do the jump scene as he was an accomplished rider, but the insurance bosses said no way. – Most bloggers will know that McQueen rode on the US ISDE Team in Germany, but failed to finish after a crash. – He was of course also a very good desert racer, and a star of the movie “On any Sunday” which he helped finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
