We had a visit on Thursday, by our Outlaw Trials gals Emily and Katie – They had hoped to surprise me with the news of them being on Team Canada at the 2025 TDN in Italy, but of course this had already hit the news-stands or in modern terms – Face-book!! Naturally we are delighted and will be supporting them as much as possible as they are both on Outlaw Beta Evos. I even put my Trials Guru VIP cap on for the pic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As our bloggers know – I have been around for a very long time and have owned\/ridden a ton of different bikes – plus I was a District Manager for Yamaha Canada for ten years – also involved with dealerships but I have to say that I have always really enjoyed riding the 125’s – being of small build I adapt quite well to the lightweights plus have quite a lot of experience with them including my final Cross Country race in 1986, when I was a Partner in the Kelowna Yamaha shop – It was in 1986 when I took a YZ 125 in trade on a Thursday afternoon – and we had a Kelowna Cross Country on the Sunday – Pat Horan was our Mechanic and he was racing a YZ490 ( Remember Pat was on our ISDE Team in Wales) Somehow I got talked into racing this event – and the only bike available was this used YZ 125 – so !! into the shop to check it over, but I think the only thing we did was take off the big airs coops in front – ( I figured they would snag every bush at bear creek) – This was the Danny Amor Memorial race – the only time that it was held as far as I know. – We got to know and really like Danny Amor, and had in fact signed him for Yamaha to ride the Welsh ISDE – but they found cancer.!! – <\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Danny met us off the plane after that event – the only one to do so – no Yamaha guys happy that we had done so well !! – not even a mention at the Dealer show later – You might want to let that sink in – and perhaps understand why I handed in my resignation early 1984<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That last race was very important to me – I was lucky to get the hole-shot ( Taking a line that nobody thought of) and I never saw anybody else for the rest of the day – until the finish!! – It was a good way to end my racing career and of course to hold and get my name on the Danny Amor Trophy. ( No idea where that Trophy ended up as I was not able to keep it)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
