(just learned pic was taken by Greg Samborski)<\/p>\n\n\n\n ===========================================<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few days ago, I posted a quiz question showing an Engine of a Greeves Pathfinder – correctly guessed by a few of our old timers. – As mentioned, I did a magazine test on that bike, back in 1971, at Blackfoot Park – then rode it it in the Trial next day ( in the snow)<\/p>\n\n\n\n This was my first Trial in Canada, and my first competition for a number of years, so it must have felt a bit strange – here are a few more pics from that time, not sure who took the ones of me – maybe Harlow or John Whitby. – That Calgary Skyline looks a bit different today<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not sure how many of our bloggers are familiar with the Greeves models – they were “Huge” back in the day, especially in scrambles – designed by Preston-cobb – who was in the invalid car business – they had a unique leading link, rubber torsion front fork, which were popular and similar to the DOT idea. – Brian Stonebridge really put the bikes on the map, along with his protege Dave Bickers. – Stonebridge ex BSA Factory rider- was killed in a car crash, but Bickers went on to win big time on the world MX scene. – their trials model, called “The Scottish” was also very popular ( Although I did not like the front fork action which made the front end rise when you put the front brake on – too weird for me)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Later models reverted to the more conventional Telescopic forks as seen on this Pathfinder model – but like many British factories, they did not survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ==========================================<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Answer to the last quiz – young Scottish lad Jamie Galloway (TRS) who has done so well this past year – Correct responses – Brett Clark Quiz today.
