Answer to the last quiz – Gordon Jackson on a Greeves – An unusual mount for him as he made his name riding for AJS, and of course made history, by winning the 1961 Scottish Six Day Trial by losing only one point. – here is that famous “Dab’ captured on film by Motorcycle Mag photographer Peter Howdle and marked down by observer Dave Johnston on the left. -As we have reported earlier Johnston later moved to Canada and had a Montesa dealership in Calgary for a time. – He later worked as a rep for a Chain Company but we lost track of him many years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we head into the month of April – we look forward to a good riding season, and for a privileged few , this means getting out on a new bike. – Of course, unless you have been living under a rock!! – you will know that because of the tight world economy and a certain moron stateside – money for toys is perhaps not on the top of the list for many. – However! we should mention that sometimes a poor economy may just be a good time to buy, as there are a lot of very good deals out there ( No I’m not talking about the Gas gas\/KTM fiasco) – REMEMBER – if you don’t support your local TRIALS dealer – He might not be around when you need that part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Outlaw Trialsport things have not changed ( Except for getting older) – For us, putting on Trials events and promoting the sport was and is a way of life – and this is also true of a few others – Mountain Motorcycle, Dave Fair, Don Doerksen are the ONLY Trials dealers out West except for Outlaw. – For them and for us – I say this – It’s not about making money – because in Trials – There isn’t very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m posting the picture below, because it was a very special day – It was when Walter Cukavac from Alberta, Outlaw Dave – and Guy Laycraft visited Al Perrett at his Sun Peaks Mountain home. – Al knew his time was limited, but he still insisted on buying us old friends lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got to know Al Perrett quite well when we raced Cross Country in Alberta – and later we had some wonderful visits at his place in Kamloops where I would make an overnight stop – We would sit in his hot tub and tell stories – he always wanted me to go to race in the desert down South – but I told him he was nuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
