<\/figure>\n\n\n\nI bought that bike about three years ago, with the idea of using it to teach my Grand daughter to ride. – However, after one quick trip around the backyard, I pushed it into the corner of the shop, and forgot about it. ( any lessons will be on a Beta 200 or the TRS 125 much easier bikes to learn on)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The TY sat there for about three years, with Opti mix in the tank – until Mike was over and said he would like to buy it although I had said it wasn’t for sale. – Anyway I did decide to let it go, as Mike indicated he would like to ride it in the upcoming Vintage class at the Outlaw.!! – So, before he came over, I pulled it out and it started 3rd kick!!!!! – Mike picked it up and without doing anything to the bike, rode it around the 20km Saturday loop at Summerland with no issues, and had a great time. The pic above shows him looking over at me with a big grin after managing to get the TY through a steep uphill section. – I did have some background with this model while working for Yamaha Canada, and used one to set up the 69mile loop for the 1975 FIM World round near Calgary – Now he is stoked with having so much fun – Mike will do a few mods that I have told him about which really help the little Yam especially at high elevation. – Hopefully we can get more of the old bikes out in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Note ! Also on the TY theme – I won the first ever Trial for Yamaha in Alberta on the 1974 TY 250.- I also crashed that same bike at high speed in a Cross Country race at Elkford, just about demolished it. ( It was the last time I ever raced a Trials bike in a Cross Country!!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
