Wednesday January 31st/24

The last day of the month and I noticed that tomorrow is the last day for riders, to get their entry money paid up for this years Scottish Six Day Trial. – As most people know, this event is in my view the ultimate test of man and machine in the sport of Trials riding.

I also saw a post by John Moffatt in relation to that famous “One dab” ride by Gordon Jackson in 1961 on the factory AJS, and it reminded me that I still have the 100 year event program, sent to me by good buddy Harry McKay. – Below you will see first a cover pic, followed by a short account about the observer who posted that one dab of Jackson’s all those years ago. – However not many will know or remember, that David Johnson moved to Canada and for a while had a small Montesa dealership in Calgary – We used to see quite a lot of him at one time – he later worked as a rep for Reynolds Chain – but we have lost touch. The final pic is the info given to John Dearie, who rode the 100 year Anniversary Trial, and did finish on a no award basis. John lives in Squamish now, and still has a Beta Evo he bought from us, but it’s not been ridden for quite a few years.
