The Manx Two Day Trial went last weekend – here is a great shot of a section that brings riders back each year no idea who the rider is or who took this great shot.
And how about a blast from the past for our Island friends !!

As most people know, we started selling Beta late in 1993 after I got a phone call from Don Clark of Mountain MC – This is how it went ” ” Hi Dave -Don Clark here – thought I would ask how you are getting on with that new Yamaha (TYZ) -?? – “Don!! (I said) – you know bloody well how I’m getting on with that bike! “- ( Silence) – Don said “How would you like to be our Dealer for Beta and Gas Gas (at that time) – my reply “I’ll be out tomorrow” – and that is how I became a dealer for Mountain MC. – Obviously we have had one of the best business relationships since that time, now with Bob since Don passed away.
Here is a pic of those first early Beta Trials bikes – which I loved but hated the early kickstart lever – in fact it wasn’t until I got the 1996 Techno that I really started to “Gell” with the Italian bike – ( Mainly because they put a decent kickstart lever on it !! I know that sounds silly – BUT people buy or not because of stuff like this. We brought in one of the beautiful 94 Techno’s for Barry, but he broke his leg at work so was out of riding for that year. All the factories tend to make a “Donkey” over years. – In 86 the Gasser I was riding was bloody awful and it was only when Barry let me try his Beta at a section I had trouble getting through, that the “Lights came on”
Here is a nice pic of some of the early models ( Love the yellow/black of the 94) – If you want to see a great video of this in action – check out for one of Takumi Narita – This was a classic.

News from the Island ( Thanks Roger)
The second annual Boomer Trial organized by the Gronow family with help from other members and
volunteers, took place on July 14th at Cycle Park in Metchosin. Held in conjunction with the Trials Des
Nations team school, ten sections were laid out for the twin shock and mono shock bikes on the lower portion
of the property as the fire ban had closed the top section above the enduro course.
There was a total of eleven riders on a variety of bikes and all enjoyed themselves on a sunny, warm day.
Burgers were flipped during the day and all proceeds went to the Trials Des Nations team for their trip to Spain
in September to compete for Canada in the International Trials Des Nations event.

Just got the latest issue of Trial Mag UK and as always it’s full of great pics and reading. The interview with Jordi Tarres is mint, and spells it out for the situation with Trials in this day and age. – I recommend people subscribe to this mag even if its only to get articles like this. – Here is page one. ( I happen to agree with him on this point of view)
There is also a great write up of the 1984 Scottish – check out the results!! Look how many big stars Stan beat that year.

Lets here it for the ladies !! Yes this is from the Scottish back in the 1950’s – the bike is a BSA Bantam
And how about this gal who has just announced that 2024 will be her last year Competing at World Level – Emma Bristow – multi time World Trials Champion.
