Monday August 5th/24

Here we are on the last day of the long weekend, and we have hardly been out of the house. This is of course due to the extreme heat and obviously no riding.

We did take in more of the Olympics – some quite good coverage and I enjoyed watching both the swimming and the running.

We got a call from Brian McEwan on Friday – we have not heard from him for about 30 odd years – he used to run the Scuba Shop in Kamloops and got into Trials for a while -Brian told us he now lives in Campbell River and has just bought a used Mont 315 to get back into the sport – He was surprised when I remembered him and the bike he had, but of course I ended up buying this TY 175 and rode it a few times before selling it to Mark ONeil here are a couple of pics.

Steve Richardsen took this one of me on that old TY at Stony Plain Alberta. (Note the vintage riding gear)

We supplied Brian with the Sammy Miller tank/seat unit as we were still Importing that stuff back then.

We got an email from Turk with an attached link to a You Tube video about Kenco in Sooke – quite interesting to watch the interview with Ken, as we dealt with him for many years, when I was still travelling.

He mentioned that he has been in business now for 45 years, which prompted me into working out that it is now 37 years for us. -since starting Outlaw Accessories – where did the time go?

=====================================

We also watched some video from the Donner Trial — Rocks Rocks and more rocks – then the British Enduro GP from Wales !! now that is worth checking out if you like seeing the old fashioned type courses. Anybody that was with us in Wales at the 1983 ISDE will enjoy seeing the big mud holes. – Also caught a brief clip of one from France showing Jack Price competing on the Enduro bike.

Quiz for today – a toughie unless you are familiar with the old Trials held in the South of England. – Who is this.?

Nice to see our old buddy Harry Mc Kay out enjoying a Trial at Fintry (Scotland) with his family and friends.
