Monday September 16th/24

Well, after a frustrating summer with only a couple of days riding – because of Fires etc – We finally made up for it with a day to remember. – Mike picked me up at 8.30 Sunday morning, and we headed to Summerland. – I wanted to show him another part of the great Outlaw loop which had too much snow last time we were there a year ago!! Yes it’s been that long.

The weather could not have been better, with clear skies and bright sunshine as we headed out, Mike on his Factory Beta and me on the TRS Xtrack. – We took time to stop and enjoy the scenery, all very quiet except for the sound of a few birds, we had the whole Mountain to ourselves, and did not see another soul all day.

As usual the bikes worked perfectly and I was pleased to “Clean” the one long steep hillclimb, that ends with a log hop. – I did have the Go Pro on , so hope that turns out OK. –

I first did this loop, back in 1987 with Ted Pepperdine – and fell in love with the area, which became the home of the Outlaw Trial for over twenty years. – It was nice to point out all the various trails to Mike, and sections from the past, many now all overgrown.

The FIM World Trials series is now over, with British riders claiming three titles – George Hemingway (Beta) 125 class – Jack Peace (Sherco) Trial 2 and Emma Bristow (Sherco) – a 10th and final title as she heads into retirement. Brilliant performances by all. – Of course we don’t have to tell you who won the top class – the amazing Toni Bou (Honda)

Answer to the last quiz – a shot I took of Steve Saunders ( Fantic) on Witch’s burn at the 1989 Scottish. – Brett and Bob got it correct, and a few others recognized Steve – including Jack McKinnon from Ontario.

Quiz today – a modern pic – but who is this TRS rider?

The Traver’s Trophy Trial ran yesterday in pouring rain – but as usual Neil Sturgeon was out taking brilliant shots – here is one to an unidentified rider. – I think Richard Sadler (Vertigo) won again. – This event is always well attended, using a long loop with natural sections, in the North of England.
