Answer to the last quiz – Joel Corroy Moto – The French guy was quite successful with his brand before selling out to the Strait Company, a huge operation whose main business was supplying parts for the French High Speed Trains. – The early Corroy bikes were Imported into Canada by Steve Troupe. – I think he did quite well with them except they had a rear shock problem .
Much later in 1989 – I saw the Strait JCM Team at the Scottish and they appeared very Professional – so I chatted to the sales manager and he agreed to us being the new Importer for Canada. – These were the days before emails etc and communications were poor, However we did eventually receive the first 240 Bike called the Europa which was quite futuristic with the gas tank under the seat and the air filter up high ( they sure found that an asset in Scotland in 89!!)
We had Stan ride the new bike and he did in fact win the first Trial at Ioco, but although he tried in the following World Round, it just didn’t have enough power from the GG engine. –
Although the Streit Company continued with a later model that I think showed promise, we suddenly learned from the Motorcycle Press that they had shut down the Factory!!! no wonder we couldn’t get any answers to our fax messages. ( Yes we did have more bikes ordered- so we lucked out there)
And a few of our regulars did get the answer to that quiz!!

Here’s a pic of a rider that everybody will recognize – but it’s one that I took of the great Sammy Miller on a section called Heartbreak Hill in Wales a tough section they used in the National and one I “fived” when I rode it.
