Report from the last CPTA Trial – by Don Doerksen.
Uhuru is a Swahili word meaning freedom. Thanks to Moto Trials West, the Uhuru trial at Ioco on Oct.20/24 gave 18 riders the freedom to go play in the mud and get wet. After a LOT of water on Saturday, Sunday dawned dry at first and later when a steady rain settled in, it did not matter because it was actually warm if you did not stop. The 8th section was the trickiest one for the Int. riders with a tight turn into a root or rock or both. The few cleans there were well earned. Etienne and Emily worked at it in Int. with only 3 points separating them in the end. Roy took Snr. Int. thanks to Skip fivng the last section. Alex Le took Exp. with less than half the points of the next rider. Parker Degray took 43 points in Adv. and Guy Smeeth was 2 points more in Snr. 45
Thanks to the Vertigo importer Moto Trials West for their sponsorship of this event.
Note ! Congrats to Emily who had a real battle in the Inter class, only losing by 3 points – Looks like Katie struggled a bit in the Advanced and slippery conditions, but Kudus to our gals who are getting out there !!!! Congrats also to young Christian from the Shuswap who got a 2nd in Expert.

As we all know the riding season for most is coming to an end – it’s been a very strange year with high temperatures and forest fires to contend with all of which have kept many of us at home.
However we congratulate any and all who have both hosted, and participated in our local ( well Shuswap) Trials – ) –
As the Trials season is coming to a close – I think it’s a good time to look back on the dedication and achievements of our gal Katie Mcmin.
This is a gal who came to me way back asking about buying a Trials bike –
I managed to find Katy a Beta Evo 250 that Marcus Buhrig wanted to sell and we got her going. -Later she bought a new beta Evo 250.
As many will know – Katy was on the Canadian Ladies Team at the TDN last year – this year she “Upped” her game and was in the Ladies World round in Spain. – We are amazed at the dedication that Katie has shown.
Well done Katie.
