A poem to make one think, by Roger Bailey.
‘I WISH’
I wish I could run up those stairs again, just like I used to do.
I’d go jogging for miles, vault over the stiles, when I was twenty two.
But that was many years ago, the time has flown so fast.
And now I’m left here pondering of things done in the past.
I wish I could touch my toes again, as simple as it seems.
Life wasn’t the same when reality came, to savage all my dreams.
If only I’d realised back then, the things that I know now.
I’d have stretched my body every day as much as it would allow.
I wish I could drive my car again, and go on my motorbike.
I’d ride out for the day in the month of May, and do whatever I like.
But those days – they have all gone now, of that I can be sure.
Old age has come a knocking, a knocking on my door.

A pic from the days when full fairings were fitted to the road race bikes – The Brits called them “Dustbin Fairings” – This is a 250 race at Monza and #16 is none other than the great Sammy Miller. on the far right is John Surtees #4. – As reported earlier – These full fairings were banned by the FIM after some fatalities caused by cross winds.

Yesterday was a Golf day – watching the Masters – good to see Rory McIlroy doing well but Cannuck Cory Connors also in the hunt. – later I watched a very good Trials video on You Tube – no not a World Round or other hop & bop – This was the Youth National from the UK – now that was fun to watch – no wonder the Brits have a ton of young talent now doing well. Check it out..
