Answer to the last quiz – Jean Luc Nictou – on a sweet sounding Triumph twin – He still rides brilliant on the Classic scene. – Brett had the answer about 2 seconds after I posted it, followed by Bob – then Harlow – Jeesh our bloggers are getting “quick on the draw” – Later Peter from Oz also got in.

Quiz today. – We have no idea who the rider is, but what is the Trials bike????

They have had some big floods back in Wales – here is a shot of the River Dee in Llangollen ( pronounced Thlangothllen) – they have also had to cancel some trials in Scotland.

Here is a Bultaco advt from 1975 – a time when Spanish bikes were on the verge of losing their top spot in the Trials market. – So many manufacturers have gone over the past 30-40 years -we could likely fill a blog page with them all. – However, with the Classic scene now being super hot in Europe (ie Spain) – It has seen the rebirth of many bikes from the past – all now selling for 2-3 times their original price.

As posted before – we rode Bultaco in the early 70’s before we joined Yamaha – the best one we had was the 73 Sherpa T 325 but this pic is the first one I bought riding the first ever Alberta long distance Trial in the Forestry South of Calgary in 1970.

Ironically, I had the first NEW Bultaco, back in 1999 – before they changed the name to Sherco. – ( Because the owner did not want to pay Royalty’s to the Bulto family -or so the story goes) – Below is me on that bike, at Kelowna watched by Barry and Paul ( Yes I made it- it was steep) – We sold the new bike for Mountain MC until 2012, before we dropped the line when the Factory changed the Importer.

Perhaps an interesting footnote to this story, is that it was me that phoned Don Clark, when I saw all the info posted about this NEW Bultaco coming out – I told him I thought it would sell very well and he should Import it- because so many old Trials riders were big fans of the original Sammy Miller bike. – ( I was right and we sold a lot)
