The FIM are giving out all the 2025 awards this weekend in Switzerland – Here are all the Trials Champs – including one old well dressed guy on the right.
They had quite the display of bikes at the event – including this break-through Beta of 1990 the liquid cooled zero – we are not sure if this was the actual Jordi bike, but it does have the “shorty” tail-pipe that he insisted on. – we heard the factory told him – you are the rider – WE design the bike. !! Well ! how times change.
As mentioned before, we were at the 1989 Scottish, when Jordi showed up with that new Zero prototype – but retired after day one when the motor seized due to the rad getting plugged with good old Scottish mud. – I have a pic somewhere of the team washing the bike after that first day disaster – the Aprilia team also had issues with their new water-pumper, but the rad on their bike was bigger.
Anybody who has been to the Scottish, knows just how unpredictable the weather can be – one year Sammy Miller was just one of a few, who jumped a big wash-out on the moors which stopped half the entry – with so many riders late – the officials scrubbed the time for that day, and this really got Sam mad. ( Can’t recall if he still won on the Ariel that year)
