Morning Bloggers!!! Looks like another cool day in the OK Valley with the TV broadcasts, showing winter snow already up on the Mountain Passes – and not far up the hill from us in Vernon at the Silver Star Ski Resort. – Safe driving to any of our local riders going to the Ioco Trial today. ( I certainly don’t miss all this after traveling all over Western Canada for 30 years 10 with Yamaha followed by selling Outlaw Accessories)
The quiz yesterday showed the Yamaha “Tuning Forks” – which have always been the “Motif” used for all their products, ever since they started in the music business. We were lucky enough to visit their factory in Japan where they build the very popular Grand Pianos and other instruments. – First correct was regular blogger Harlow Rankin, who actually owns a set of Yamaha drums. – others who knew the answer, were Bob Clark, Stan, Brett, Jack Chant and Roger Boothroyd, who also sent us a link to his latest Newsletter, always a good read with a ton of info on the Victoria Motorcycle Club. Looking back at the Trials scene in Western Canada – I came across these two magnetic signs, made up by ATRA Prez Harold Pospisil – quite a unique idea and a reminder that the sport in Alberta was very popular years ago, including Trials events in Edmonton, Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House, Calgary, Lethbridge and even one in Cardston. and Cold Lake. – The Calgary Club still holds the record of putting on the very first FIM World Trial in Canada, in 1975. ( I hold the dubious distinction of setting up that Trial)
It was Harlow Rankin who founded the ATRA all those years ago, sending out a monthly Newsletter before he moved to BC – I also mailed out a monthly Newsletter back in the day before Computers took over the World
