Answer to the last quiz -Nigel Birkett (JCM) at the 1989 Scottish – not sure what section this was but may have been the lower one at Grey Mares Ridge. – I chatted to Nigel before he lined up for this section- asked him about the JCM – He said it was a good bike!! So that was a reason I talked to the factory people at the car park.

This design was quite stylish with the gas tank below the seat, but without a fuel pump, we found this a problem when the level got low. The Gas Gas engine also felt a bit underpowered. – However Stan did win the first CPTA Trial at Ioco on the bike.

Below is one of the pics I took of Stan the first time he tried the bike.

Both Bob and Brett got the rider in the quiz – but not the correct year. – or section.- Pete Varey got it all correct.

Quiz today. – Who is this rider competing in a snowy National?

Here is another old pic from an ATRA Trial at Rocky Mountain House – it shows Rob Stobart struggling to heave the twin shock Monty up onto the tires watched by Chris Tronnes. – Rob loves the old Monts and still has one which he plans to bring to the Outlaw in BC this year.

As mentioned – We have been sorting out some of our old files which contain a ton of photographs – long before digital took over. Below are a few from our very first trip up Joss Mountain in 2003 — very difficult – as we had to get around avalanches and the bush was so thick. – I had forgotten that we had a young lady along that trip on a very low geared down Kawasaki 100. – As you can see in the bottom pic – she looked pretty worn out, but everybody made it to the lookout in spite of snow drifts and skirting big pools of water.- we had to get through in the Alpine.

Below – Luke Towers, Paul Throssell – Mark Grey – but can’t remember the other two – who were friends of Mark ( Our guide) – This was about 1/2 way up in the Alpine.
