Yesterday we spent a nice day up in the Shuswap, where our Daughter has a summer vacation home on the lake. – While it was too hot for me to spend much time outdoors – it was good to get Momma Bear out. – The worst part was driving back in the dark!! – my ” Cat’s eyes” do not take kindly to all the crazy traffic and bright lights. ( I had the op about 15 yrs ago)
We had to go the “Long way around” as they have Salmon River road closed to traffic because of the Hulcar Forest Fire, still burning out of control. – We know exactly where this is, as we often stopped on the ridge on the other side of the Valley while riding Yankee Flats. The Power lines now in danger stretch for miles.

Don’t forget you need a Spark Arrestor if you do get lucky enough to go for a ride, but frankly with fires burning all over the Valley, this is not a good idea at the moment.

This is another great shot by Deryk Wylde of Eric Adcock the little Factory DOT rider, who used to win a lot of our Club Trials in the 1950’s. This was a time when everybody rode the same line, didn’t matter if it was your first event – you were riding with a lot of Factory supported teams. ( and a time of 4ply Dunlop Tires)
I nearly bought a DOT at one time, but decided to stay with the James Brand. Note the wide flat bars very popular at the time. and the bulb horn which was required for the trials that used public roads between sections. ( They were only for show)
