OK so we are now well and truly into the Fall season, with the Thanksgiving weekend done and some of the Classic Events like the Scott Trial in the history books – Also the BIG International Six Day Enduro goes this week in Spain – this is huge and we have to wonder where the money comes from to field all these teams – we know that back in 1983 when we were involved with the Canadian team going to Wales there was no real sponsorship – although I was able to get the big Yamaha Transporter from Mitsui in the UK. – I remember chatting to the lads from Oz who shared our checkpoint duties, who told me their Government picked up the tab for the Teams!! – I’m sure other Countries also got big dollars especially the USA – they had 45 support crew!!!!!! – Just as a reminder our Canadian Team finished 2nd that year in the Silver Vase ( now called the Junior Trophy) Plus the Team won the Watling Trophy for the most improved nation.
Below is a pic of our Yamaha Team – But the lads from Eastern Canada were a big part of the success – Blair Sharpless and others.
L-R in pic – Walter Short -Paddy Horan Dave Rhodes – Bernie Graffunder – Lady friend of Paddy’s who came to support – Chris Castles (rip) and Tony Allen.
Below a group of riders at the opening ceremony – Walter Short – Gerry Neilson (rip) Tony Allen -Cam Whiffing, Pat Horan -Chris Castles (rip) – Blair Sharpless and Bernie Graffunder.
It was nice the team let me have a pic with the Watling Trophy ( A few had already left to catch flights back to Canada)
I even still have my official badge from that event – what a great effort by Team Canada.
We wish the Teams good luck this week in Spain – Kudus to all who helped make this happen.
Note! – Blair posted that two of the girls lost a bit of time on the first day and one of the men’s team got a penalty at a surprise sound check.

Yesterday was a lazy day for us – I did give the TRS a clean up after the dusty ride on Saturday – then later just kicked back and watched some Scott Trial videos on You Tube. – I think the checkers deserve a medal at this event trying to score all the riders fairly when there might sometimes be 3-4 in the section at the same time. I’m sure some win and some lose !!

A couple of other big events on last weekend- the Sea to Sky hard Enduro won my Manny Lettenbichler – but Graham Jarvis was back on the podium for this.
Also locally in Vernon they held the Squeelin Pig cross Country – we have not seen any results for this so far. – but a great weekend for sure.
