Birthday greetings to Sammy King today – seems like a very long time since he sent me that email from OZ. – This was the first weekend out at Summerland on the Outlaw Beta. – We also set him up with some nice Wulf Trials gear – a very difficult section.

Because of the things happening these days, we thought this pic would be appropriate, for this date.

This is a brilliant photograph ( note! not pic) of Bill Barough flying up the super steep hill at Hawkstone Park Shropshire. – He is on a Factory Dot ( Devoid of trouble was the slogan) – The reason I say “Photograph” is because in those days, you had to know a lot about photography in order to get an action shot like this.
I should also mention that photographs rarely show how steep a hill like this is. I remember it was venue that I attended back in 1955 , the first “Scramble” I had ever been to, – as I crossed the track at the base of the hill, I thought “They will never get up there!!” – Later the first rider who we saw rocketing up over the rocky slabs at the top of the hill, was AJS factory rider Jeff Ward.
Another not so good memory from that day, was that somebody nicked my brand new James Captain street bike !!! from the parking lot — ( Why mine out of the hundreds parked??)
