Answer to the last quiz – BSA Competition Manager Brian Martin and as you could see – the bike was a BSA 250. – Brett Clark got it just 7 minutes before Peter LeGrove from Australia.

Quiz today – Guess who?

Well Sunday was a pretty special day to be out on the bike – sunny weather and quite warm – As usual Mike picked me up and we headed over to the Westside to meet up with Roy, who had his first ride for about a year after having cataract surgery – Yes it was a perfect day – after which we were treated to the sight of a couple of F16 fighter planes zooming up and down the Valley – what a racket – not sure what that was all about.

Below is a few pics from a day to remember. Mike and Roy – The old guy and Mike getting some practice on log hopping.

I had Mike practicing the “Basics” with correct body positioning on turns and cambers – the camera doesn’t show how steep this side-hill is.

Below is a pic of the famous Hawkstone Park MX Track in Shropshire – the shot is taken from up on the very steep hillclimb – You can see how the long track winds through the flat with a few big sand holes to navigate before the flat out approach to the hill. This was the first ever “Scramble” I went to back in 1955, and as I crossed the track at the bottom of the hill and looked up I thought that nobody would get up that!! – ( There are also some large rock slabs at the top) – Well! later, I saw AJS Factory rider Geoff Ward flying up over the top of that hill – a sight that will remain fixed in my memory. – Unfortunately my day ended badly as somebody “Nicked” my brand new James street bike from the Parking lot!!!!

In 1995 we returned to watch a World Trial at that venue, Steve Saunders and his crew did a great job on that. We took a lot of video of the practice and the event, won by Jordi on the Gasser. – We met up with Mart Lampkin and a few other well known Trials people.
