It’s hard to believe that it is 50 years, since the FIM introduced the World Trials Championship in 1975 ( before that it was the European Championship) – Martin Lampkin was the first to win this, and we put on the first one in Canada.

It was in 1965 -ten years previous – that Sammy Miller joined the Spanish Bultaco factory, and shocked the UK Trials world – before that Sammy had been the man to beat on his 500 (Heavy) Ariel GOV 132. – Sammy won the first National he entered on the new lightweight “Sherpa T” and the rest as they say – is History.
Sammy now holds a special weekend for Bultaco fans at his Museum in England, with many of the Trials and Scrambles stars from the past in attendance. – Here is a pic from last week with some of them.

Below he is seen with that very first Sherpa T model.

We bought one of those from Terry Porter back in 1970 and immediately won the first two Alberta Trials we entered – Yes they were that good.

Next week is the TT races in the Isle of Man – the natural road course is 37 3/4 miles long and back in 1957 my buddy and myself rode the complete loop on our Trials bikes !! no we didn’t break any records.
These days they are lapping at over 200mph ( frightening)
