Monday October 30th/23

Good morning Trials fans we hope you all had a great weekend – the last one in October, but what a gorgeous one we had for weather here in the OK valley – Glad to say we got out for a ride at Summerland – the first and last one for this year – but what a great time Mike and I had – We were surprised to see quite a lot of snow down there, but this only added to the fun as I showed Mike parts of the old Outlaw loop, with our last stop being at the section we called OK Devil’s Staircase – but I think we will now just call it “Pete’s Place” it’s no longer rideable, with more fallen trees, but I was pleased to see the small plaque of Pete still on the stump from a few years ago.

I took the nice TRS 250, with the Xtrack kit fitted, which having the seat worked out great when I got tired – It was a completely new area for Mike to see, and he was surprised at all the big round rocks that are scattered all through the Valley -in fact some places were like riding one long rock section. Glad to say I managed OK with the TRS performing as it should, and Mike enjoyed the challenge on his Beta Evo 300 Factory.

Here is Mike in his Wulf riding gear in the bright sunshine this taken in the meadow where we normally see a mass of yellow flowers in the springtime.

It was quite cold out of the sun, so glad I wore my Wulf jacket plus the warm neck scarf that Taff brought me back from Wales. – this is were we stopped for a rest at the top of one high ridge to enjoy the view of the Valley, showing Summerland in the distance.

We had quite a lot of correct answers to the last quiz – Pete Varey-Harlow-John Kitchener-Brett-Mark ONeill -Roger Boothroyd – plus we got a message from Pat Morrow, who is back in Japan – he said he finally managed to hook onto the new blog format and likes it.

The bike GOV 132 was of course the famous Ariel that Sammy Miller transformed into a World beater, although this particular pic is of the very first Ariel which as issued with that license number in 1948.

Quiz for today – What engine is this and what is the Trials bike it was used in??
