Not sure how many of our readers click onto these on You Tube – But I have watched a few – I saw this and watched it on my CP mainly because it said Shirty was on it. – Now I do find these podcasts a bit boring at times because of all the cross chat – However the comments by Shirty regarding the Scottish were really in my opinion “Spot on” – I remember when John Jr was running very close to the top one year – – I was chatting to Mick Andrews and he told me John had phoned him on the Friday night and asked the question “How the hell do I win this thing ?” – As it happens I think Shirty did finish on the podium – but that just explains how difficult it is to win the World’s greatest Trial. – He asked a guy who had won it five times. John mentions how important it is to have Gortex clothing and forget the fancy stuff, because you are going to get very wet. – When asked who he thought would win this year – John did not hesitate – Dougie Lampkin.
