Here are a couple more pics from our Sunday ride out into the back country – checking out the old mines. you can only imagine what it must have been like back in the day living in the old log cabins.

I think all the abandoned wrecks must have just broken down or got stuck out there – many used later for shooting practice by hunters.

The month of June in the Isle of Man means only one thing – the TT races. – we were there in 1957 when Sammy Miller was leading the lightweight race going into the last corner (Governor’s Bridge) when his Mondial seized!! – Sammy pushed the bike down the long finishing straight to the checkered flag to claim 4th position we have not seen this pic before which shows him exhausted and dejected at the finish – It was not long after this that he gave up road racing to concentrate on Trials riding – the rest is history.

We have heard from Don Doerksen that the Whistler Trial had a total number of 44 riders entered and nice dry weather which was appreciated for riding in the high altitude rocky terrain – I see both our Outlaw gals were there, and will no doubt give us a full report next time they stop by. Full results will be posted on the CPTA site.

(I can forward via email if you contact me but I’m unable to copy to the blog)

Below is a shot showing the high mountain terrain with fantastic views.

Meanwhile Peter Legrove from OZ mailed to say the Australian trial Championship is happening soon, with over 100 riders entered to date!!! ( that is more like the old days) Peter also mentions many people have lost their homes in the recent big floods.
