We now know why we have not seen our Emily for a while – check this out. It’s all coming to Motorcycle Mojo Mag.

Emily stopped by yesterday and told us all about her latest whirlwind travels – these included a quick trip to the UK, where she attended the British Trials championship Trial at Hookwoods, and also rode one of the lower classes on a borrowed Beta. – That girl has so much stuff on the go I get tired just listening!!! ( But we did have a nice visit)

So the weather this week in the valley is cool- rainy and yes just perfect for a ride in the woods !! But this could change!!!!

Saw this interesting article – back then and also when we were at the ISDE in 1983 – The Aussie support crew doubled up with the Cannucks at the checkpoints.

This weekend is the Reeth Three Day Trial in Yorkshire England – which caters for all classes -Twin shock and modern- It is all Pre-entry and they had a whopping 280 applicants which needed slimming down via a ballot. The reason is likely because the trial is a typical old style long loop type through fantastic terrain- ( like the pic below) – A similar Classic Trial in France has had the entry closed at 400!!! – – Why? because it’s what the Brits call “Proper” Trials.
Now as we have said before – we have the utmost respect for the World Class riders, who like all this hop & bop stuff. – And yes there is a time and place for it – but not at the club level – it’s like a different sport.
For example – We just saw a video clip from the US FIM Round that shows a rider -taking a huge crash which resulted in a wrist injury likely putting him out for the year – plus the TRS will need some work!! – but it could have turned out a lot worse..
Our congrats to the Cannucks who did ride the last US round and did well. – Felix and Michel Belanger were on the podium in the International Class and Jon English also had some good rides.

Not that I have not made a few mistakes when setting up Trials – – (Everybody does) – the pic below shows -a Manitoba rider failing the first Expert section I set up at one of our Kelowna National Trials around 1987 – The main reason being that he should never have been riding the Expert class. – BUT it was a bit much for the time and only Mark Cahill (the winner) made it up that very steep rock.(You can see me taking in all the action just below on the left)

We saw this great poster and thought it a good way to encourage newbies out to a trial – I remember we did this back in the 1980’s at Kelowna.- We got a few enduro riders out, but can’t remember if any ever bought a trials bike.

We had quite a few compliments on the bit we posted about our Euro bike trip and yes it’s something we are very glad we did. What I didn’t mention, was that our Ferry crossing coming back to the UK was in one of the worst storms for twenty years – – most people on board were sea sick ( but not me ) – All the glasses in the bar were smashed ( I wonder how I knew that?) Luckily, we found the Norton had been tied down securely by the crew.
When we arrived in Dover late that night ( it took so long to get across) we drove down the road in the pouring rain to the first Hotel we saw, it was quite a plush place. – However, we got turned away by the snobby staff with the excuse they were full ( We were dripping all over their nice plush carpet) – – Imagine how we felt? – anyway we went around the corner, where we found a nice B&B – with truly wonderful people, who not only fed us and dried all our gear, but wanted to know all about our trip. – The next morning I opened the window of our room overlooking the white cliffs of Dover, to see bright sunshine and listen to the cry of the seagulls. – Perfect!!!
