Interesting mail came from Steve ORorke who was the only one who noticed my mistake the earlier blog when I listed the Beta Techno as a 1986!! – It was of course a 1996. That was the first year that i started to ride a Beta – the reason being they put a half decent kickstart lever on them! – Now think about that for a minute – how many customers did Beta lose because of such a tiny design mistake? – yes I could tell you others which Sherco- Gas Gas failed to recognize.

Looks like our fire season has started in the Valley, with a fire out of control on the Westside of Kelowna. – no other news yet. Hats off to those Skimmer Pilots who come in one behind the other – superb flying in order to save property owners – we sure hope they get well rewarded.

As our readers may have noticed, I’ve been posting quite a bit about the classic bike scene and how this has been booming at a time when modern bikes are sitting on the showroom floor. – However, the fact is – most of these so called “Classic ” bikes are really expensive replicas of what people like myself rode back in the day.
Now , if this brings in more riders, more events etc – I’m all for it – as mentioned in previous blogs about why I started this class in the Outlaw trial some 40 year ago. – However – on the flip side of the coin ” Would I still want to go out on a Sunday ride at my age on a vintage bike? – Sorry but the answer is no – UNLESS it was a $20,00 replica which performed like a modern bike.
Some nice Yams at the Highland Classic.
