Answer to the last quiz – Takumi Narita at the 2004 World Round – Donner USA – I was there with Barry as were a lot of others from Canada, in fact I took an almost identical photo of Takumi at that section – so maybe somebody copied it for FB? – Not that it would be a problem as I don’t mind anybody using my stuff. – I met Takumi and his Dad in the restaurant very nice people. – Bob Clark and Brett, plus Pete Varey got that one.

Quiz today – Guess who and what Scottish section ( no longer used)

Yesterday I checked out the You Tube video of the British Championship from last weekend – Must admit the first thing that crossed my mind was Mart Lampkin’s comment at one of the early sections I put in for the FIM World Round in Alberta back in 1975.

“What does Dave think we are “Bloody Supermen?” – I think the same could be said to the organizers – about some of the sections in that trial. – Not only crazy stuff, but section cards mounted on rocks that kept being knocked off for a “Five”

Obviously, setting up a Trial is not easy, and that is why many enthusiasts in Canada, only do it once. – Not only is it hard work, but to get the degree of difficulty right for all the classes they have these days, really is a challenge. – Then of course you have to consider the weather ! how will that effect sections that are planned to be difficult in the dry? ( Impossible and perhaps dangerous in the wet?)

It was interesting to hear the comments made by the English guy who posts these videos -( A former Trials rider) “Personally I think they made it too hard”.

Now if you take this a step farther, just look at one of the latest videos posted on FB of a young TRS rider crashing back down a rocky section, banging his head a couple of times on the way. – This was at a European trial somewhere. – !!! Will he ever ride again?

While I admire the skill and daring of many of the top riders of today, for our low key- club type Trials, I think we need to keep things on the easy side. –

Yesterday I posted a pic of Turk Perepalkin from Victoria, as it was his birthday, well here is another pic of him on his favorite bike a TRS Xtrack – with estart of course. – Turk has bought quite a few bikes from us including a couple of Betas’ ( hence the shirt” -( check out the Outlaw decal) – however, what many of our bloggers might not know, is that Turk has ridden lots of Trials in his younger years, plus competed in a number of ISDE competitions, nice to see him still riding in his 80’s.

Looks like we will have a few days of high temperatures this week – Hopefully this will not bring more fires.

There is a Trial on Sunday to remember Boomer a great guy and member of the VMC for many years. – I saw the poster on FB but now it’s gone – perhaps because they listed it as Trail instead of Trial !! a common spelling mistake by the way. – Will likely be reposted.
