With all the panic going on these days regarding Forest fires, I decided to check out some old boxes of stuff from back when I used to type out a monthly newsletter, get it copied and then mailed out to all our Kelowna Trials club members – that took a lot of work, but it kept everybody informed as to what was happening and of course we did this for free. – However, later we decided to step into the 21st century, and bought a computer !! WOW!! – this pic shows our daughter Helen setting it up for me. – This old model has long been updated and we somehow manage to cope with all the everyday news.

As you can imagine, we have a ton of old memories stored away in boxes, but I thought our newer members might like to see these reports from a couple of events.

So with BC on Fire!! – should we maybe look at our Alberta neighbours to host a few Trials ????? – As old timers know, this was where we got the ball rolling all those years ago, and yes we have enjoyed some great Trials in Alberta. – it all started in 1971, with those first long distance UK style events run out in the Forestry, the hi-lite of which was the very first FIM World Round in 1975 near Bragg Creek.
The ATRA had some fantastic events in Stony Plain and also at Rocky, – Wetaskiwin area , plus a few farther South. – later Jacek promoted more in the Red deer area, but it seems that things have fallen a bit flat lately. ( Just an old guys observation)

This is a pic of young Ryon Land at the UK Anglesy World Round – Now as we pointed out after viewing the videos etc, we were not that impressed with the sections, and coming from the old country, I really think they could have done better, BUT – that is just my opinion, coming from across this side of the pond.
One thing that is for sure – unless things change – World Trials is becoming way too expensive for very good riders, and the sport will suffer. Which is a shame.

My old club back in the UK.
Below is a pic of the last time I saw my old Friend Brian – It was when I was over for the ISDE in 1981 – I learned a lot from Brian and his older brother Don, when I first got into Trials. – Brian died from Covid, but I still keep in touch with his son Peter, also a good Trials rider and supporter of the Oswestry Club. – ( I really wish I could go over for that, but I’m afraid Anno Domini is creeping up fast.)
