Answer to the last quiz – 100year old John Penton – the guy who brought KTM dirt bikes to the States and called them Pentons.- quite a few got that one – it was Helmut Klassen and his buddy Max – who later brought KTM to Canada.

Quiz today. Who is this rider?

It was in 1975, that the FIM decided to make the European Trials Championship into a “World” Championship – here are the results from that first year in the UK – Just like the one we put on in Alberta, later that year, there were a ton of club riders who went head to head with the top experts of the day. – That is not the case today – just the cost of competing in the series is mind boggling and the circus type acrobatics required to even ride some of the sections, is certainly questionable. – Check out the scores!! Remember back then everybody rode the same line in the sections. ( Still that way at the Scottish Six Day Trial)

1975 was also the year that crash helmets became mandatory for Trials

We got to browsing the You tube channel last night – watched more from the ISDE before they go into the final day.

After that I stumbled across some video clips from the AMA Hall of Fame, with Malcolm Smith telling stories – what a great guy he was – did you know he was born on Saltspring Island BC?
