Answer to the last quiz – world Champ MX rider and winner of the Scottish Six Day trial, along with dozens of other events Jeff Smith -former BSA factory rider who borrowed one from his old buddy Arthur Lampkin and they both rode the first day of the Pre 65 Scottish in 1985 – I have seen that video and yes they struggled on the big heavy bikes – plus neither are youngsters anymore. – some of our bloggers may recall my story about following Jeff off the start line at the 1976 Moose Mountain Two Day 200 miler, by taking his line we likely passed about 50 or more riders. – Brett was first in as he was at that Trial in Scotland, but Harlow, Roger, Peter from OZ and a few others tuned in later.

We have heard from most of our Alberta riders who attended the Magna Bay event and they all appear to have made it home safely through the early winter conditions. – also some good reviews of the trial which also featured our own Fiddler on the roof !! here is a good shot of Pete.
Also kudus to Julie for organizing the live music later by a local musician all in the warmth of the big shop complete with dance floor!! – not many trials can boast this feature. What a great way to wrap up our season. Thanks to all who came out.

Here is a pic from the sign up at the 1975 FIM World Trial we put on near Bragg creek Alberta. – it shows our old friend Pete Smith in the center , wearing the funny hat. as mentioned earlier we sadly lost Pete just a few weeks ago at age 78. – he was a former Canadian trials champ, builder of exotic sidecar outfits and musician – I remember he played the piano at my surprise 60th birthday party that Babsy arranged. ( Wow! that was 28 years ago) – We shared lots of good times at Alberta trials – Pete always beat me.!! in the trailer doorway is Grace Mallet and Ron leaning forward in front.

We have watched a lot of Scott Trial videos on You Tube – some showed Jon English – he managed to finish this year after 3 tries. He said at one point Alfie Lampkin passed him on the moors like he was standing still!! – those lads go quick!!.

We have also clicked onto a lot of the Sammy Miller You Tube videos – quite amazing when you consider he is now over 90 years old. ( He is one guy that the word “Legend” really is appropriate.)
