Answer to the last quiz – Ulf Karlson (rip)- not sure of the year – but he was a World Champ perhaps 1980 ?

Quiz today – Another shot from the Classic Outlaw at Greenstone Mountain – How many of these can you name?

On a blog some time back, we talked about the changes to Trials bikes over the years and some but not all good improvements.

Perhaps one of the biggest changes came when they moved the shifter and brake from one side to the other!!! -( The old British design) That still takes some getting used to if you happen to ride one of the older vintage bikes!! ( pressing down on the shifter instead of the rear brake) – Of course one other huge improvements came with the new wider and folding foot-pegs. – I remember the early bikes of the 50’s had just a solid bolt welded to the frame!!!!

A lot of talk these days about fuel injection the Pros and cons – well as most old timers know – Yamaha built a very special model for Mick Andrews back in 1974 – which included this – although it was really a “pumper-carb” from a snowmobile. – Mick won the Scottish on it, but didn’t bring it to Canada for our first FIM World Championship – it seems not all the “bugs” were worked out plus the factory were not ready to put that model into production. – Mick told me the bike worked very well, and of course it had the new mono-shock rear suspension. -remember that was over 50 years ago!!!!

Here’s a pic of Mick with that bike at a show last year – not quite sure where this was, or where that bike is now – we lost touch with Mick a few years ago although he did ask Helmut Classen about me when he was over for a Classic event in Ontario ( we still have his ph number so maybe one day I will give him a call)

Nice for December 16th- view from our kitchen window overlooking Swan lake in Vernon. BC. – That snow you can see on the hills in the background is actually on the West side of Lake Okanagan.

We have heard from Stan, who is now down in the Baja – busy sorting out his winter camp – and yes he was glad he missed the monsoon that happened after he left.

The annual Boxing Day Trial will go ahead at Ioco – details below – I remember when we held a few of those when we lived in Kelowna when the weather was reasonable. – always good fun.

Here is a pic for the books – the very first TRS out the factory door back in 2016. – ( We got our first one in 2017)

Below is a shot I took of Shane Bridden jumping high with that first edition of the TRS at Bear Creek on a snowy day, in 2017 – ( It would have made a great promo pic if the trees were not in the background.)

Finally! – Birthday Greetings to Jamie McGregor of Ontario – ( we featured a pic of him a short time ago at the Scottish) Jamie has just bought a new TRS Gold with estart and Fuel Injection – says he loves it. – Happy birthday buddy!
