Yes Today is REALLY St Patrick’s Day !! I have been posting the wrong date for the last few days – silly old sod!!

As they say ” What a difference a day makes” – we got a rude awakening yesterday to remind us that a late snow fall is not just confined to Alberta !! But at least it won’t last and we do need the moisture.

A couple of weeks ago we were out enjoying a ride on the Westside in glorious sunshine. But note how dry it is.

Of course we have a lot of memories of “Snow Days” particularly in Alberta – That first ever Western Canadian Championship trial we put on in 1971 with riders from all over Canada and the USA – only to have about two feet of snow on the Saturday night!!! – But the show had to go on, so I played guide over the 30mile plus loop as most of the arrows were buried under the white stuff. – yes John Jones from Toronto ( via UK) – won that day.

This was how my day ended – pushing my “Water-cooled” Montesa through the last few sections with the help of Danny Smith from the USA

Then of course there was the time I drove to Calgary for the ATRA Trial at Blackfoot Park on April 23rd – My van stayed parked at Siggi Pechou’s place all weekend with two feet ( Yes two feet) of snow on top. -( Have a pic of that someplace)
Thinking back, the very first Trial I rode in Canada, in 1971, was in the snow and also at Blackfoot Park – on a Greeves 175 that I was testing for a Magazine

Lots more “Snow” stories of course and I’m sure our bloggers have some of their own.

Answer to the last quiz – Jean Luc Nictau – who used to wear a full face type of helmet in World Trials – Now seen at regular Classic events on a Triumph twin. – As usual, Brett, Bob and Harlow got it.
Quiz today. Guess who?
