Thursday April 17th/25

Answer to the last quiz – Adam Norris on the Yamaha – Only Neil Carter got this – and yes it was a tricky one – I was with Mick Andrews in Scotland – the year that Adam was leading after the first day and while we were in the bar ( where else?) somebody asked Mick how good the TY was. – So typical Mick – he said – “Well they are leading the trial at the moment so they must be good”-

Quiz today – Guess who?

As we head into the Easter weekend – we hope that everybody will have a great time – with family and friends – Obviously for our Trials family – this means the first ever Trial at Narimata BC – – It’s been sometime since we had a Trial in the OK Valley and some might recall that after about 20 years at Summerland, we decided to change our venue due to a concern about the land use.

After that – we moved to Green Mountain for two years ( A really great time) – but then Ross picked up the flag and has hosted the Outlaw Trial ever since, in the Shuswap.

Back in the day – We put on a lot of Trials in the Valley – maybe 6 events every year – We began with a Trial at Bear Creek – starting by the cattle guard. – We even invited riders to give it a go on enduro bikes with a separate class. – National Trials, were held at East Kelowna, plus other locations – Barry Van As was a huge help back then and yes it took a lot of work – but the reward when you have people enjoy the sport is huge,.

It was in 1987 that I got invited to ride with the lads from Summerland at this spot west of Town. – Suffice to say that this area got me hooked – The terrain reminded me so much of Wales ( except no brooks-creeks)

As many will recall from the the early days – the Outlaw Trial on the May long weekend, was the place to be. -We always had a good entry with about 60 plus riders from all over Alberta and BC – The campfires and social family gatherings were what I still think Trials events are all about – and perhaps a tad different from the enduro/Cross Country race scene..

We have mentioned before about the kids Trial we would host on a Saturday evening around the camp area – – This was a wonderful time and it would be nice to see this continued.

The weather forecast for the Easter weekend looks to be a bit unsettled, but we should see a good entry at the Trial – A big thanks to the South Okanagan group for putting this on.
