Good morning bloggers – we hope you all had a great weekend, no doubt many of you out Christmas shopping – We are fortunate not to have any snow down low in the OK Valley, which makes it easier for driving. – But our friends the other side of the big rocks are not so lucky with very cold temperatures. – we hear the water is receding a bit at the coast – but more crazy weather in the forecast.

Answer to our last quiz was Beatrice Shilling, the wonderful lady who designed a carb/fix for the Rolls Royce engines, which were prone to cutting out at the worst possible time, no doubt saving the lives of many Spitfire and Hurricane pilots. – We only had two people guess this correctly – Harlow Rankin and Pete Varey, who both said they had read the story on this.

Quiz today. Guess who

Seeing this posted, reminded me of a Sammy Miller story – I was riding a National Trial in Wales back in the 50’s and as a young enthusiast I followed everything that was written in books by the great riders of the time.

This being the case, I watched Miller ride this very steep slippery downhill section, which had a big muddy ditch at the end just before the end cards -like a lot of riders, I posted myself at this spot watching to see how the great man would ride this. -Well ! of course Sammy had no issue and posted a clean. – Sooo ! I quickly dashed back to my bike and lined up at the top of the hill for my turn. –

After the start of the section, there was a smaller ditch that had one big rock in it!! – Of course I had not looked at this!! – so over the bars I went. for a big “5”.

The moral to this story, is “always” study the whole section and memorize it. – Not just the most difficult part.
