Answer to the last quiz – a shot from the start of the 1950 TT in the Isle of Man – the rider is Artie Bell who was the Champ at that time, but he was about to be beaten by the other Norton rider Geoff Duke – who had been signed to ride Trials for the Factory – the rest is History. – Standing at the start line is Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh. – Bob Clark and Roger Boothroyd got part of it correct.
Our regular blogger from OZ sent us this pic of Prince Phillip – seems he also liked two wheels.

Artie Bell was an Irishman and his protege was a young Sammy Miller – seen here on a very wet day riding a Dustbin fairing racer. ( Likely his favorite NSU)

Quiz today – A more recent pic of a lady Trials rider, but who is it? – hint this pic was from a recent UK Trial before she rides the Scottish. – but she is not from Europe

Chuck Harder from Kamloops is hosting a training event for Enduro riders this Sunday, the idea being to teach them Trials skills. ——— ( Remember ALL the top hard enduro riders are ex Trials riders) – Emily will be there with her Beta Trials bike, and we were also hoping to attend, but something came up. – here is a map to the location for anybody interested.

Of course the “Big” Trial this Sunday is at Ioco ( Another one we would have liked to attend) – Hopefully Katie will be there and we will get some pics.

We have noticed a lot more posts referring to “Trials” as “Races” – all from Spain of course – no wonder they like all this – “Hop & Bop” – Thank goodness we still have REAL trials being organized.
Of course the BEST Trial in the World has always been the Scottish Six Day Trial, but after watching the video clips from last year and hearing some comments, I think the “No Stop” rule should be rigorously enforced – the Super stars or the “Stop and Hop” brigade will take every loophole they can to avoid a penalty, and I fear that showing a lenient scoring system could well destroy this event and discourage regular club riders from participating.

As mentioned yesterday it was Taff’s birthday – but I just found this pic while searching for something else – This was one of our better days!! here he sips a cool one on top of Joss Mountain.
