Above is a pic from a few years ago in the beautiful yellow meadow we just loved to visit in Summerland- As most of our bloggers know, they now have a raging Forest Fire in that area which is also threatening the City of Summerland. A total of 20,000 people have been evacuated, including many of our friends, so we can only hope that they are safe. – I think we could correctly call this the “Summer from Hell” in our Valley.

Our riders familiar with travelling to the Outlaw, will recognize this – The Kettle Valley Railway – we crossed this on route to our Trial Camp – We held the Outlaw Trial there for at least 23 yrs – plus a National.- I wonder if they will manage to save this from the fire.

On a lighter note the answer to the last quiz showed the great Les Archer with his Factory Norton Scrambler, the engine was a very special Manx unit.

Brett and Roger got that one – here is the one today – Guess who.

With just about everything in a lull due to the Fire situation, it was nice to get a visit from Gerry yesterday, and we had a great chat.

The bottom line right now, is that with everything tinder dry in the Valley and hot temperatures, new fires could spring up anywhere at any time. Yesterday, I was driving down Pleasant Valley road near where we live in Vernon, and noticed a young lad walking along smoking a cigarette!! – Now each side of this road has long grass, which the city never seems to keep cropped, and I could not help but wonder where this lad would be putting out his fag end!!! -that’s all it would need!!!! We are living in a really scary time.
