For those who missed our last Trial – Here is what the medals looked like – a nice pic of Steve Day especially for his 6oth birthday
When I got involved with Trials in Canada, I was quite surprised to see how many people went home with trophies – it seemed there was a class for everybody!! Somebody said that this was how it was done in Canada and the States !! Hmmm! – Yes I managed to win a few – but the most cherished one is a small trophy I got as a second class award in a trial in Wales -my first ever award. – I was really surprised as there were a lot of factory riders at the event. ( this pic was taken in Canada a long time ago)
I have mentioned about that first Trial I rode in Calgary back in 1970 on a borrowed Greeves which I was testing for a Magazine – I got what they called the “Best Opposite” award – which made me laugh – I said what the hell is that?? – My two 3rd place Moose Mountain Trophies are not in that pic – which for me were perhaps the most prestigious especially the 1976 event won by Danny Amor with World Champ Jeff Smith 2nd .

Here is another great guy, who really deserves to be called a “Legend” and I was so lucky to shake his hand as a young lad at a Club Trophy presentation dinner, then have him pass me in a Time Trial!! – Of course he won. ( I did finish and our team got 3rd)
I did see Geoff on the Gilera at Oulton Park when they were putting on a demonstration – Oh! the sound still rings in my ears.
